The Price you have to Pay for those Shots

There are some bloody cool wedding films out there right now. Static, perfectly framed, Wes Anderson-style ones. Symmetrical. Still. Every detail placed 'just so'. They’re beautiful. We’re not pretending otherwise... In fact we're genuine Wes Anderson fans ourselves...

But here’s the part nobody's talking about: What the shot list actually has to look like on your day to capture those static shots. Your wedding day. The day you only get to celebrate once. And suddenly you’re giving up a piece of it to perform for the film. "Stand perfectly still right there, no here, no there. Look this way, no that. Hold the glass at this angle. Laugh on cue. Wait for the light. And do it again because the last take wasn’t quite right."

We’re not actually 'against it'. Not even a little. If that’s the film you want, we’ll shoot the absolute hell out of it and make it gorgeous. But! We’re more about you actually enjoying your day. So our preference is simple: We’d rather come back another day (or the day before) and do all that performance stuff if you really love it — the styled shots, the perfectly aligned frames, the cinematic stylised visuals... I mean, we've got the skill set for sure. We'll give them the time and space they deserve but we'd prefer not to steal a second of the real thing in order to capture them.

What we live for, what we chase, what we refuse to stage… Is the stuff that happens when nobody is performing. The clink of glasses when the speech hits home. The laughter that cracks open the room and makes your cheeks ache. The unscripted words that come out of someone’s mouth when they forget the camera is even there. Because that's our difference... It’s not in our gear list or award badges... It’s in our decision to protect your day first and foremost... The film is, and should be, secondary to you truly living your wedding.

We capture things as they happen. Not directed. And years from now, when you watch your film back, you won’t remember a shot list. You’ll remember how it really felt because we kept your space safe from performances.
