We don’t do photography. On purpose.

Before you ask… we don’t do photography.

Not as an add-on. Not as a “while we’re there.” Not as one of those tidy little packages with an ampersand that sound like a candle company. We make films. That is the job. We love the job so much it still makes our hearts do that stupid little leap when a cut lands just right. We would like to keep being good at the job.

Half the industry will sell you photo and film as a neat little package, and we get why that’s tempting. One team. One inbox. One conversation. Very tidy.

We have just never been very tidy.

The reality is that when both crafts live under the same roof, one of them almost always becomes the afterthought. Jack of all trades, master of none is a real risk. And there is no universe where we want your film to be the afterthought.

A good photographer and a good filmmaker are watching two completely different days. One is hunting for the still you will hang on the wall… the light on your face, the shape of the moment frozen. The other is hunting for the in-between. The breath before the vow. The shoulders shaking from laughter. The bit of audio that makes you ugly-cry into a glass of something on a Thursday night years from now.

We used to flirt with offering both, years ago. Then we grew up a tiny bit and remembered what we actually like doing.

Shaun is there to disappear into the day. Read the room, watch the mini stories unfold and be right at the perfect spot when something happens.

What we love about being filmmakers is the way we can catch the seemingly ordinary moments as much as the extraordinary ones and make sure they are never forgotten. That is what gets our eyes leaking and our cheeks aching. Stills are beautiful. We are just not the people holding that camera.

If you need a photographer, tell us. Shaun has worked alongside pretty much all of the best ones over the years, so we can quietly point you at people we already like and trust. We will not put it on a price list and call it a journey.

This isn’t a numbers game. You get us, Shaun and TJ, 100% of the time. One of us is usually holding a camera. The other is in the emails, the plans, the “have you written your own damn vows yet” conversations. Neither of us is going to ask you to lift your chin and smile with your eyes.

If you want a film that still works in twenty years, when the haircuts have become a situation… that’s us.

Go watch one of our wedding films. Then come say hi. Coffee or a virtual margarita. Your call.

Big love,
Shaun and TJ
