We say no more often than people expect.
Not because we enjoy slamming doors. But because once you’ve filmed a day for a couple you feel like you’ve known for years — like you know which aunt needs the shade and you’re already in on that “private” joke – even if half of that knowing happened over email — a calendar full of polite yeses starts to feel like a different job.
We’d rather end up mates than merely booked. The click usually shows up early: in which movies we find ourselves quoting to each other, how the emails feel, whether you already talk like you’re hiring a faceless company or hiring us, people.
On the day we want to feel like we BELONG in that room with the people you love — and you don’t get that from saying yes to everything, when every Saturday is spoken for by people we only half-match with. So we keep the year deliberately small.
If what you really want is a big crew, a big ego, and a production that needs a call sheet the size of a novel… we’re probably the wrong fit. That’s not a fail. There are excellent teams who love that work — and we can point you their way.
But if you watch a film of ours and think “it has to be them” (and we hope you do), you already get the selective bit.
